Where Am I

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 25, 2026

These terms apply to Where Am I ("the app"), published on Google Play by Christophe Eyquem ("I", "me"). By installing or using the app, you agree to them.

What the app is

Where Am I is a personal tool that helps you keep a day-by-day record of which countries you've been in, useful for tracking exposure against tax-residency thresholds like the 183-day rule. It's provided free of charge, with no account required.

Not tax or legal advice

Where Am I counts days based on location data and entries you provide or import — it does not know your tax residency status, your treaty position, or the rules of any specific country. The 183-day marker shown in the app is a common reference point, not a legal threshold that applies uniformly everywhere. Always verify your records and consult a qualified tax advisor before relying on this app's output for a tax filing or residency claim.

Accuracy of data

Automatic detection depends on GPS and mobile network signals, which can be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable — for example, in airplane mode or areas with poor signal. Manual entries and imported data are only as accurate as what you provide. Review your Logs regularly and correct anything that looks wrong; the app is designed to let you do this, not to auto-confirm silently.

Your data

Where Am I stores everything locally on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for backing up your own data using the app's Backup export, and for keeping any exported files secure. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes its local data.

License

I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Where Am I on devices you own, for your own personal use. You may not reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app outside of official app store channels.

No warranty

Where Am I is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. I do not guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose, including tax compliance.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any tax, legal, or financial consequences of relying on the data it produces.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of France.
